Gunni Omann designed for Jun’s Møbelfabrik A/S and is founded by Andreas Omann in 1933. The production of bedroom, dining room furniture and wall-systems was Gunni Omann’s main focus. The furniture mostly was designed together with his family, however the designs were from Gunni Omann. In 1979 the company was taken over by his son Bjarne Omann. He introduced the office furniture. In 2005 the third generation became CEO of the company, Bjarne Omann’s son. The company nowadays still makes beautiful furniture.
Gunni Omann designed for multiple furniture companies
Gunni Omann did not only design for Jun’s Møbelfabrik. Additionally, he designed for the Danish company Axel Christiansen Odder/ ACO Møbler. This company is still active in the Danish design scene too.
Gunni Omann long sideboard – Mass modern design
The handlebars are characteristic of the sign of Gunni Omann. In the shape of a long triangle, which provides a beautiful dimension. This design comes back in the designs for the Jun’s Møbelfabrik company as well as the ACO Møbler. Furthermore, they are not designed precisely the same, the corners of the closets at ACO Møbler are rounded too. A beautiful detail is when the doors of the sideboard are brought together, they beautifully create a flush connection.
Only the best is good enough
The furniture that he designed are not only beautifully designed, they also are of great quality. Gunni Omann’s furniture belongs to the top of the Danish design from the mid century.
The sideboard models number 16 and 19 and the desk number 75 are very famous and wanted by collectors. Omann worked mostly with teak and rosewood.
Most of the designs are from the 50’s and 60’s.
