Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard Nielsen coffee table produced by France and Son in the 1950s. Designed by the famous duo Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard Nielsen. This coffee table belongs to one of the most popular series in Danish modern history. This model has the number 515.
The coffee table model 515 is made of solid teak, rattan and brass. The frame is made in high quality as you would expect from France and Son. The functionality is an important aspect in this design, so the coffee table has an extra magazine holder. It seems to float in the air because of the brass holders on which it is mounted. The table is marked with the original logo.
France and Son was founded in 1948 by British Charles France in cooperation with his Danish business partner Eric Daverkosen. The name was therefore France & Daverkosen in the beginning. In 1957 Charles France's son joined the company and from then on it was called France and Son. The company started with the production of mattresses. From the mattresses, they got the idea to use cushions with iron springs for minimalist wooden chairs. Read more about it here France and Son..
The condition of this Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard Nielsen coffee table is very good, with minimal signs of use. The table has been cleaned and the top has been professionally treated and oiled.
